Why Did You Decide
to Become a Dentist?
Ever since she was 13 years old, Dr. Ikonomi has had the dream of becoming a dentist. She already knew that she wanted to help take care of others, but she specifically fell in love with the concept of intertwining patient care with art and dexterity. She later spent years shadowing dentists and working as a dental assistant before realizing that dentistry was the perfect field for her. Today, she remains just as passionate about her work and strives to provide exceptional care for her patients every day.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Ikonomi first studied at Boston University for her bachelor's degree before attending Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine for her dental doctorate. Even after graduating, she remains dedicated to learning more every day, undergoing further training through continuing education as well as attending dental conferences. She’s also received hands-on implant training and earned her SMART certificate.
Dr. Ikonomi is also an active member of several professional organizations, including:
- American Dental Association
- Massachusetts Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Raised in a tight-knit family of four, Dr. Ikonomi loves spending time with her loved ones whenever she has the time. Otherwise, she typically enjoys hobbies like trying out new restaurants, cooking new recipes, listening to a good podcast, and working out. She also has an extensive traveling list that she’s trying to get through, and she enjoys exploring small towns nearby. One fun fact about her: she used to always eat the stickiest and sweetest candies as a child, which is why she was exposed to the dental field early on!
